A piece of great significance for the history of 20th-century Italian design, this item dates back precisely to the period when Lion Pilter's artistic and managerial direction was entrusted to the renowned designer Cleto Munari, shortly before he founded his historic art workshops and collaborated with masters such as Carlo Scarpa and Ettore Sottsass. In 1970, Munari served as the company's director. Under his leadership, the foundry underwent a profound stylistic revolution that led Lion Pilter to win the 1st MACEF Prize that very year. His contribution focused primarily on artistic and managerial direction, pushing the factory toward exceptionally high quality standards. The candelabra retains its original vintage gold adhesive label on the bottom of the shaped base, certifying the victory of the prestigious 1st Prize at the Milan MACEF fair in 1970, alongside the factory hallmark stamped directly into the metal. The 1970 MACEF jury did not award the prize exclusively to the structure of the candelabra, but rather to the entire collection of 95% cast art pewter pieces presented by Lion Pilter that year.
