Description & Technical Details
Up for auction is a beautiful and rare piece of Swiss watchmaking history: a vintage Zitura Compressor automatic wristwatch from the 1970s. While Zitura remains a niche brand highly prized by collectors of vintage Swiss timepieces, this model stands out due to its iconic Compressor case architecture. The Compressor case, patented by the legendary case maker Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA), was a revolutionary design of its era. It utilizes water pressure against the case back to compress the gaskets tighter as depth increases, providing excellent sealing.
The Dial: In pristine vintage condition. It features a striking sunburst metallic blue dial that catches the light beautifully, paired with clean applied silver hour markers and hands. A date window is perfectly positioned at 3 o'clock. The bottom bears the original "T SWISS MADE T" tritium signature.
The Case: A classic 1970s stainless steel "cushion" shape with a high-polish finish. It retains its strong factory lines and geometry, showing only honest, superficial surface marks (hairlines) from decades of careful wear. Never aggressively polished.
Case Back: The screw-down case back is officially engraved with the factory technical stamps: "Compressor Water Resistant", "Automatic Stainless Steel", "Swiss Made" along with the official reference model number 27631 positioned centrally.
Movement: Equipped with a robust Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement featuring an Incabloc shock-protection system. It winds smoothly, ticks strongly, and keeps good vintage time.
Strap: Paired with a brand-new, high-quality aftermarket blue leather strap with a beautiful pebble texture that matches the blue dial flawlessly. The strap is completely unworn with crisp, clean holes.
Condition Report
The watch is in overall very good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean and free of spots or moisture damage. The acrylic crystal is clear with only faint hairline micro-scratches. The case shows normal vintage surface scratches but no deep dents. There is also a faint watchmaker service mark on the back of one lug, proving historical maintenance.
Note: As with all vintage watches, water resistance is not tested or guaranteed, so please keep it away from water. A wonderful, distinctively styled 1970s daily wearer or a fine addition to any vintage watch collection!
Shipping Information: The watch will be safely nestled inside a generic protective transport box. It will be professionally packed and shipped internationally via DPD courier, including a tracking number and full transport insurance for a safe, reliable, and fast delivery across Europe.
