Description & Technical Details
Up for auction is a highly collectible and technically significant time capsule from a top-tier Swiss manufacturer: a vintage Longines Admiral HF from approximately 1972. The HF designation stands for High Frequency, highlighting a historic era when Longines engineered fast-beating movements designed to provide superior chronometric accuracy. This specific reference is powered by the legendary In-House Longines Caliber 6952, operating at 28,800 beats per hour (4Hz), which gives the central second hand a beautiful, near-continuous sweeping motion. This caliber features Longines' patented "Zero-Reset Hack" mechanism: when the crown is pulled out to set the time, the second hand does not stop immediately; instead, it continues to run until it reaches exactly the 12 o'clock position (zero seconds) and then stops, allowing perfect military-style time synchronization. It also features a convenient quick-set date function.
The Dial: In phenomenal vintage condition. It features a rich, deep blue dial that offers an elegant contrast with the applied silver stick hour markers. The date window at 3 o'clock is neatly bordered by an original silver frame. Authenticated by the original "T SWISS MADE T" signature at the base.
The Case: A classic 1970s stainless steel "cushion" geometric design. Crucially, the case features its original dual-finish styling—brushed/satin texture on the upper surface and mirror-polished flanc flutes. The edges remain sharp, proving the watch has never been aggressively or poorly polished.
The Crown: The watch preserves its original, factory-correct crown embossed with the historical Longines winged hourglass logo.
Case Back: The screw-down, faceted stainless steel case back is cleanly stamped with the factory "Stainless Steel" marker and the serial number 16 over 545582, indexing it perfectly to Longines archive records from 1972.
Strap & Buckle: Mounted on a high-quality aftermarket black leather strap stamped "Echt Leder" (Genuine Leather) paired with a clean aftermarket stainless steel buckle. The strap is unworn and in immediate ready-to-wear state.
Condition Report: The watch is in overall very good to excellent vintage condition. The dial is pristine, showing no discoloration or water damage. The acrylic crystal is clear with minor standard light reflections. The stainless steel case retains its strict original profile and shows only minor, age-appropriate surface hairline scratches. The manual high-frequency movement winds cleanly, the quick-set date works perfectly, and the watch keeps solid vintage time.
Note: As with all vintage mechanical timepieces, water resistance is not tested or guaranteed, so please keep it away from moisture.
A beautifully preserved, technically significant Swiss daily wearer or milestone piece for any vintage Longines collector!
Shipping method: Worldwide shipping via registered mail with an express courier such as UPS, DPD, or similar.
Any customs fees, if applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer
Orders will be shipped within 1-2 days of payment, with insurance for the full amount and the corresponding tracking number.
