Model History:

The Seiko 5 Actus collection was introduced for the Japanese domestic market around the end of the 1960s and combined the practical Seiko 5 concept with more contemporary styling and upgraded movements. Actus SS models were equipped with a seconds-setting function, allowing the seconds hand to stop when adjusting the time.

Manufactured in July 1971, this reference 6106-7490 features a dark grey dial, a streamlined stainless steel case and an English/Kanji day-date display. It is powered by the 25-jewel Seiko calibre 6106 automatic movement, one of the brand’s well-regarded mechanical calibres from this period.

Condition:

The watch is in very good vintage condition. The stainless steel case retains its characteristic shape, with light scratches and signs of previous wear consistent with its age. The case back also shows surface scratches, while its engravings and serial number remain clearly legible.

The dark grey dial remains attractive overall, with clear printed details and a distinctive vintage appearance. The applied hour markers and hands show visible age-related oxidation and surface wear, most noticeably on the hands. A new, scratch-free crystal has been fitted.

The original signed Seiko stainless steel mesh bracelet shows normal signs of wear and fits wrists up to approximately 19 cm. The automatic movement has been freshly serviced, all functions operate correctly, and the watch is supplied with a 3-month functionality guarantee.
