Description

Second State I Edition — Pink Compression is a hand-built wooden relief composed of individually cut, shaped and painted elements.

The pink blocks form a compact geometric structure against a white background. Although the arrangement follows a clear grid, each element sits at a slightly different depth or angle. These small variations allow light to move across the surface, creating shifting shadows and changing the appearance of the work throughout the day.

The contrast between the pink composition, white background and white shadow-box frame gives the piece a direct and concentrated presence. From the front, it feels structured and contained. Viewed from the side, its depth and irregular surfaces become more visible.

The artwork belongs to the ongoing Second State series, which explores repetition, transformation and the way simple forms can carry different emotional qualities through color, structure and light.

A separate companion work, Second State II Edition — Red Compression, continues the series in a softer palette and quieter visual language. It is not included in this sale. Red Compression was created to stand independently as a complete work.

Artist & Studio

CanisterCrafts is an independent contemporary art studio based in Bucharest, Romania.

Every artwork is made by Tiberiu, combining woodworking, repetition and geometric structure with an interest in texture, shadow and emotional balance. The studio’s practice moves between sculptural relief, abstract composition and architectural object design.

The work is created by hand rather than through industrial production. Small irregularities are preserved as evidence of the process and of the natural character of the wood.

Collector’s Note

This is a unique original artwork. No prints, editions or reproductions of this exact composition have been produced.

The relief changes with its surroundings. Direct light reveals the texture and grain of the wooden surfaces, while softer light creates deeper shadows between the individual elements.

Second State I — Pink Compression is offered as an individual artwork. Although it forms part of the wider Second State series, it has its own complete composition and does not require the companion work to be experienced or displayed.

The artwork is signed on the reverse and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the artist’s studio in Bucharest.
