Decorative sculpture depicting Gaius Julius Caesar, represented as a Roman military commander wearing richly detailed ceremonial armour. The breastplate is decorated with the head of Medusa, an eagle and classical ornamental motifs, giving the sculpture a strong Roman Imperial appearance.
The bust is made of bronze with an attractive patina and is mounted on a substantial polymer marble pedestal. The front of the pedestal features a Roman eagle emblem and a metal plaque inscribed “CAESAR 102–44”.
A maker’s mark is visible on the reverse of the bust. Fine detailing can be seen throughout the armour, drapery, facial features and hair.
