DESCRIPTION:
Observations about our specimen: Nicely rooted tooth. Not restored or glued. A true gem grade specimen with nicely developed feeding wear.
Narindasaurus (specifically Narindasaurus thevenini) is a genus of turiasaurian sauropod dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic of Madagascar. Its teeth are characteristic of the Turiasauria clade.
Key Features of Narindasaurus Teeth:
Heart-Shaped: The crowns have a distinct heart-shaped morphology, which is a key diagnostic feature of turiasaurs.
Asymmetrical: The teeth are asymmetric and often show a lingual curvature (curving toward the tongue).
D-shaped Cross-section: The teeth have an asymmetrical "D" shape, with a convex labial (outer) face and a flatter or slightly concave lingual (inner) face.
Surface Texture: The enamel surface is often described as rough.
Size and Shape: They are generally spatulate (spoon-shaped) and robust, adapted for feeding on plants. With quite well developed serrations.
The shape is relatively similar to that of Archaeodontosaurus, but it has the characteristic asymmetry of Turiasaurid teeth.
Narindasaurus is one of the oldest known members of the Turiasauria group, with fossils discovered in the Middle Jurassic of Isalo III Formation of Madagascar.
All of our fossils come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our database verification system on our website. If you find that your certificate has not yet been updated, please contact us and we will update it immediately. Display box included.
