Dirk de Bruycker γεννήθηκε το 1955 στη Γάνδη (Βέλγιο), πέθανε το 2015 στο Σάντα Φε (ΗΠΑ). Σπούδασε στην City Academy of Fine Arts στο Sint-Niklaas και στο St. Lucas Institute of Fine Arts στη Γάνδη, αποφοίτησε με Master of Arts το 1977.

Το 1979 μετέβη στις ΗΠΑ για να σπουδάσει στο Tamarind Institute στο Albuquerque, αποτελώντας έναν από τους πρώτους βέλγους καλλιτέχνες σε αυτό το διακεκριμένο κέντρο. Dirk de Bruycker was born in 1955 in Ghent, Belgium, and passed away in 2015 in Santa Fe, USA. He studied at the City Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas and St. Lucas Institute of Fine Arts in Ghent (Master of Arts, 1977).

In 1979, he moved to the USA to study at the Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, one of the world’s premier centers for printmaking. After a short return to Belgium, where he ran a lithography studio and taught, he settled permanently in Santa Fe in 1986, working as a painter and printmaker.

Between 2002–2008, he also ran a studio in Granada, Nicaragua, traveling frequently between Central America and the USA.
