Dial and Hands
The watch is fitted with an exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver sunburst dial that shows minimal signs of aging or spotting. It features an applied Omega logo, the signature Constellation star, and a date window at three o'clock framed by an applied border. The applied baton indices are finished with black inserts, providing clear contrast against the bright sunburst surface. The original baton hands, also detailed with black inserts, display expected age-related wear. There is visible oxidation and minor spotting on the metal surfaces of the hands, and the luminous material appears aged or missing.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel C-shape case retains its original geometry, presenting honest wear consistent with its age. The top surfaces maintain their brushed finish, contrasting with the polished bevels. The case displays moderate scratches and scuffs throughout, along with some visible edge softening. The caseback shows typical wear and scratches, while the signature observatory medallion remains present but exhibits some surface wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial and shows minor surface scratches visible under certain lighting conditions. The watch is equipped with a fluted, Omega-signed crown that shows moderate wear.
Movement
Inside the case is the Omega Caliber 564 automatic movement, featuring twenty-four jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. The movement displays Omega's signature copper-colored plating and maintains a clean appearance with minimal signs of wear or oxidation. The rotor and bridges present crisp, clearly defined engravings. +5+7s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring an alligator pattern. The strap shows light wear and is secured by an Omega-signed buckle.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The stainless steel case displays moderate scratches, scuffs, and some edge softening, while the caseback and observatory medallion show typical wear. The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, standing in contrast to the original hands which display oxidation, spotting, and aged or missing luminous material. The domed acrylic crystal and signed crown show moderate wear. Supported by the timegrapher result of +5+7s/day, the movement is performing remarkably well.
Dimensions
The case size is 34 mm, and this measurement strictly excludes the crown.
Remarks
This Constellation offers a highly desirable configuration for collectors. The exceptionally clean silver sunburst dial, the celebrated C-shape case geometry, and the strong performance of the Caliber 564 chronometer movement make this a compelling vintage Omega.
History
The Omega Constellation has represented the pinnacle of the brand's precision watchmaking since its introduction in 1952. By the late 1960s, the line evolved to include the C-shape case, a celebrated design originally conceived by Gerald Genta that moved away from the earlier pie-pan dials and lyre lugs toward a more integrated, modernist aesthetic. The Caliber 564 automatic chronometer movement inside this reference was introduced in 1966 and is highly regarded by collectors for its quickset date mechanism and reliable performance. This era of the Constellation remains a favorite among enthusiasts who appreciate mid-century design paired with serious horological capability.
