Description & Technical Details
Up for auction is a beautifully preserved and elegant mid-century Swiss time capsule: a vintage Hever Automatic from approximately the 1960s. This timepiece represents the quintessential design language of the era's dress watches, focusing on slim proportions, clean lines, and reliable mechanical engineering. It is powered by a high-grade Swiss ETA automatic winding movement (Caliber ETA 2451) featuring 21 jewels and equipped with the historic Incabloc shock-absorption system, designed to protect the balance wheel pivots from impact during daily wear.
The Dial: In phenomenal vintage condition. It features a stunning silver/champagne sunburst dial that catches the light beautifully. The dial is decorated with applied gold-tone stick and faceted hour markers, matched by elegant hands. It features the period-accurate hexagonal "Hever" shield logo. Authenticated by the original "SWISS MADE" signature at the base.
The Case: A classic round, gold-plated case with the gold plating on the case shows signs of wear, with some areas where it is peeling/flaking off. The lugs feature a clean profile, and the overall geometry remains sharp. It shows honest signs of age-appropriate wear on the plating, adding to its authentic vintage character.
The Crown: The watch is fitted with a classic ribbed gold-tone crown that operates smoothly for time-setting and manual winding assistance.
Case Back & Movement: Equipped with a solid screw-down stainless steel case back providing a clean seal for the automatic movement inside. The outer caseback features original period engravings: "Stainless Steel Back", "Waterproof", "Incabloc", "21 Rubis", and "Swiss Made". Inside, the watch is powered by a robust and reliable Swiss ETA 2451 automatic workhorse calibre with 21 jewels, preserving clean historical accuracy.
Strap & Buckle: Mounted on a high-quality aftermarket black leather strap paired with a matching gold-tone stainless steel buckle. The strap is in clean, ready-to-wear state.
Condition Report: The watch is in overall very good vintage operational condition. The sunburst dial is exceptionally well-preserved for its age, showing minimal to no water damage or spotting. The acrylic crystal is clear. The faceted stainless steel caseback exhibits light hairline scratches and standard tool marks from past service openings, but all text remains completely sharp and legible. The automatic movement winds cleanly and keeps solid vintage time.
Note: As with all vintage mechanical timepieces, water resistance is not tested or guaranteed, so please keep it away from moisture.
