Semiotically, the canvas shifts the Hopfian motif of urban solitude toward its exact actualization: it is no longer night nor the city that separate the figures, but two luminous rectangles held at chest height. Only the blue-clad woman still looks at someone—and that someone is us. Smooth facture, saturated red hues, bottle green and warm ochre, urban tenebrism.

Le Yack, a French emerging pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) in Orléans. He is an artistic director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
