Franz Hermle 340-020A - German Mantel Clock for Parts / Restoration - 1983

Offered for auction is a vintage German tambour mantel clock manufactured by the renowned maker Franz Hermle.
This item is being sold strictly as a donor for spare parts or as a restoration project.

Technical Specifications & Details:
- Manufacturer: Franz Hermle (Germany)
- Movement Model: 340-020A (8-day, spring-driven key-wind mechanism)
- Production Year: 1983 (Stamped with the year code "P")
- Jewels: Two (2) Jewels integrated into the floating balance escapement
- Chime: 5-hammer Westminster chime system striking on 5 bronze rod gongs (plays quarterly and strikes the hourly count)

Condition Report:
- Movement: The 340-020A brass mechanical movement is visually clean, complete, and free from heavy corrosion.
All gear teeth and pivots appear intact.
The floating balance unit is fully present.

- Dial & Hands: The ivory/cream dial is in excellent vintage condition with crisp, unfaded Arabic numerals and clear "Hermle / Made in Germany" signatures.
Original black serpentine hands and the central locking nut are fully intact.
- Case & Bezel: The solid oak veneered wooden case shows well-preserved grain patterns, free from deep scratches or structural cracks. The front brass bezel/lunette has detached from its hinge/housing but is included intact with its original convex glass and right-side locking latch. The bottom features the original factory chime-mounting bolts.
