Offered here is an unique sculptural side table created from approximately 80-year-old reclaimed solid pine.
The piece began its life as a hand-hewn structural beam in the roof of a historic building. Its deep cuts, openings and geometric joints originally served a purely architectural purpose. After decades hidden within the structure, these elements have been preserved and reinterpreted by THE FOREST as a unique work of functional art.
Two original openings resemble eyes, while the angular carpentry joints create the impression of an abstract mask or silent guardian. This accidental, almost anthropomorphic character gives the object a strong sculptural presence without erasing the history of the original timber.
The aged surface retains visible axe and tool marks, natural cracks, worn edges and a deep patina developed over many decades. These features are not imperfections, but authentic evidence of traditional craftsmanship and the material’s former architectural life.
The object can be used as a distinctive side table, display pedestal or standalone wooden sculpture. Its monumental yet restrained character makes it particularly suitable for wabi-sabi, brutalist, rustic-modern and contemporary interiors.
