Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
Vintage Helvetia Art Deco “Shock Absorber” – Swiss Made – circa 1930s
A beautifully preserved and highly characterful vintage Helvetia wristwatch dating from the early Art Deco period, featuring a distinctive rectangular case, elegant sector-style dial and Helvetia’s patented Shock Absorber movement.
The watch is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement with 15 jewels, signed “Helvetia – Swiss Made” and marked “Patent Shock Absorber” and “3 Adjustments”. The movement presents very well for its age and is currently running and keeping good time.
The original-style Art Deco dial is particularly attractive, with applied Arabic numerals, elegant blue-steel hands, a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock and the characteristic “Shock Absorber” inscription. The dial displays an authentic aged patina consistent with the watch’s considerable age and adds to its vintage character.
The rectangular case has a strong architectural Art Deco profile with curved sides and distinctive integrated lugs. The case back is marked:
“FOND ACIER INOXYDABLE – SWISS”
and bears the case number 5154.
The watch measures approximately 43.0 mm in length and 22.1 mm in width, giving it a very distinctive presence on the wrist while retaining the elegant proportions typical of early rectangular watches.
The case shows signs of age and use, including wear to the original finish, small marks and surface scratches. These should be regarded as part of the authentic vintage character of the piece rather than recent damage. The dial also shows natural age-related patina.
The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap, which complements the period appearance of the watch. The strap is not claimed to be original to the watch.
