Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
monolithic column shaft (or a load-bearing section called a "rocchetto"), a vertical load-bearing element typical of classical or historic architecture. Material: It is made of natural stone, probably locally sourced calcareous or marble. The texture shows light veins and fossil or crystalline inclusions typical of lithic materials quarried from a quarry. Condition: The surface is very rough, eroded and patinated by time. It presents small chippings, natural cracks and an uneven grayish coloration, a sign of long exposure to weathering or a period of burial. The upper and lower edges are irregular and partially worn. Structural element key: At the summit a metallic pin or dark mortise-tenon protrudes. This joint (often iron or bronze, originally fixed with molten lead) was fundamental in ancient construction to join the various blocks of the column, preventing lateral slipping under the weight of the entablature. Position and tilt: The object is positioned in a state of balance or deliberately inclined on the cement floor of the courtyard. It does not rest on a regular base, but shows the diagonal cut of its lower fracture, which creates a dynamic visual effect and almost "archaeological", as if it were a newly emerged or collapsed relic.
