This bijin‑ga print is an original pre-war impression printed in early summer 1931 by Itō Shinsui, master of modern Japanese bijin-ga art, from the series Takasago-zome Yukata Bijin Hyakushi (高砂染浴衣美人百姿), No. 30.

Produced using the patented KI‑Banton offset lithography technique of the era, the print depicts a lady with a traditional high coiffure. She wears a deep indigo Takasago-zome yukata decorated with chrysanthemum leaf motifs and holds a folding fan, with red plum blossom branches as background decoration. The colours are soft and delicate, making this one of the representative works from the series.

The artist’s signature and seal are on the right side of the composition, and the margins bear the marks of the publisher and printer.

Due to age, the washi has naturally yellowed. There are foxing spots on the image and light creases at the paper corners. Overall in good condition for its age.

This print is sold unframed; the photographs show a suggested framing example only.
