« Help! Send for help! McLeach took a little boy." From The Rescuers Down Under, Disney's sequel to the 1977 animated film, The Rescuers, here is a magnificent drawing of Bait-mouse. In the film, this character is introduced as Cody is going home after helping Marahute, the golden eagle, when he hears a jingling bell. He follows the sound and sees a mouse tied to a tree with the bell and decides to help free the mouse, not knowing that the mouse is being used as bait to trap an animal by the villainous poacher McLeach. This good deed endears the mouse to Cody, leading the Bait-mouse to call upon the Rescuers in this sequence found starting near the 14:30 timestamp. This piece was hand-drawn using graphite on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper.
The Walt Disney Pictures stamp on the sheet (see photos) further reinforces the authenticity of this magnificent original production drawing.
