Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia") – Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph (1935)

This volume represents the First Trade Edition (published by Jonathan Cape in 1935 for general circulation following Lawrence’s death earlier that year)

This specific copy boasts a unique historical provenance, featuring a beautifully preserved, handwritten contemporary ink presentation inscription on the front flyleaf:

"Presented to Mr. Wilfred White by the Staff of Ed. Boustead & Co. as a token of appreciation on his Completion of fifty years service with the Firm. 31st July 1935."

This inscription links the book directly to Edward Boustead & Co., a historic and prominent trading firm heavily embedded in East India and Far East maritime mercantile history, dated exactly around the book's initial trade publication window in late July 1935

Illustrations: Richly illustrated throughout, including a photogravure frontispiece portrait from a plaster bust of Lawrence, full-page plates (including charcoal portraits), in-text line drawings, and 4 folding maps printed in red and black.

Binding: Original brown buckram cloth cover. The front board features the signature gilt-stamped double crossed scimitars framing Lawrence's handwritten philosophy: "the sword also means cleanness & death"

Condition Report:
External Binding: Good to Very Good. The original brown cloth boards show light, uniform age-toning and standard handling marks consistent with age. The beautiful gilt-stamped scimitars and inscription on the front panel remain bright, crisp, and clear. The spine shows some expected fading, with minor rolling and bumping to the head and foot. Joints and hinges remain completely intact and stable.

Internal Textblock: Very Good. The binding is firm and square. Inside pages show typical light tanning/spotting mostly confined to the outer edges and preliminary leaves. The rest of the internal pages are clean, crisp, and textually complete. The presentation inscription is beautifully rendered in clear black ink and remains perfectly legible with no bleed-through. Page count: 672p, Dimension: 25.8 cmx20.0 cm .

Photos supplement descriptions.
