The Seiko 5 Actus collection was created primarily for the Japanese domestic market and became known for combining dependable automatic movements with youthful, distinctly 1970s styling. Actus models were generally positioned above standard Seiko 5 watches and often featured more refined dials, angular cases and upgraded movements with practical functions such as calendar quick-setting and hacking seconds.

Produced in January 1972, this Seiko 5 Actus SS features a silver-grey sunburst dial that changes from light silver to darker graphite tones depending on the angle and lighting. Its applied baton hour markers, framed day-date display and sharply shaped stainless-steel case create a restrained yet unmistakably period-correct appearance.

Condition:

The watch is in very good vintage condition and presents attractively. Its silver-grey sunburst dial is well preserved and produces an appealing play of light, shifting between lighter silver and deeper graphite tones depending on the viewing angle. The applied hour markers, hands, framed day-date aperture and printed details remain clear and well presented.

The stainless-steel case shows scratches, small marks and general signs of previous wear consistent with its age. Its characteristic angular profile, long faceted lugs and contrasting polished surfaces remain clearly visible. The case back also displays superficial scratches and normal age-related wear, while its original engravings remain legible.

A new, scratch-free crystal has been fitted, providing a clear view of the dial. The watch is paired with a new grey paratrooper-style textile strap featuring a contrasting black centre stripe.

The automatic movement has recently been fully serviced, and all function are operating correctly. A 3-month guarantee is provided on functionality.
