Item Description

A charming set of three vintage Japanese dolls, combining a traditional Ichimatsu-style doll with two smaller Showa-era child dolls bearing original labels reading “Kodai Kibori Bijutsu / Miyako (Tsuru) Ningyo” (古代木彫美術 都〔鶴〕人形).

The central doll is a traditional-style Japanese boy doll dressed in an elegant dark green kimono with a richly patterned outer garment. The layered costume features geometric and circular motifs in subdued cream, purple, green and brown tones, creating a refined vintage appearance. The carefully painted facial features, inset eyes and serene expression are characteristic of traditional Japanese doll aesthetics.

The two smaller dolls seated on either side depict children in colourful vintage garments. Both retain paper labels on the body reading “古代木彫美術 都〔鶴〕人形”, an interesting feature for collectors. Their expressive inset eyes, delicately painted lips and distinctive reddish-brown hair give them a particularly nostalgic Showa Retro character.

According to information associated with this type of doll, the two smaller examples belong to a line of Japanese dolls known as Miyako Ningyo, produced with a woodcarving-inspired traditional appearance. They have been associated in reference material with the Japanese doll manufacturer OIKE, although the precise manufacturer of these individual examples cannot be conclusively confirmed from the labels alone.
