Dial and Hands
Beautifully preserved, the silver sunburst dial presents a striking visual effect and remains exceptionally clean. The applied gold-tone indices are bright and fully intact, complementing the crisp printed text that shows no visible loss. There is no significant spotting or moisture damage visible across the surface, allowing the sunburst finish to take center stage. The matching gold-tone dauphine hands show light, age-appropriate oxidation and minor spotting visible under macro inspection, while retaining their original shape with no structural deformation.

Case and Crystal
The 14K gold-filled front displays honest wear consistent with age, retaining its overall shape and classic geometry. There are moderate scratches and handling marks across the front, with some plating wear visible on the lug edges and case flanks. The unsigned knurled crown shows intact plating with minor wear from normal winding. On the stainless steel caseback, the exterior engravings are faint but legible, while the interior remains clean with clear markings. The domed acrylic crystal is clear with no major cracks or chips, though some light surface scratches are visible at certain angles.

Movement
Powering this timepiece is the manual winding Seikosha Caliber 560, featuring 21 jewels. The movement appears generally clean, displaying clear SEIKOSHA, 21 JEWELS, and 560 engravings on the bridges. There is some minor spotting visible on the mainspring barrel and the screw heads show light wear. No heavy corrosion or rust is visible on the caliber.

Strap
The watch is fitted with a complementary black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. The material shows light wear and creasing from previous use, pairing naturally with the gold-filled case.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved for its age, remaining bright and clean. The 14K gold-filled case shows moderate scratches, handling marks, and plating wear on the lug edges and flanks, while maintaining its structural integrity. The hands display light oxidation, and the acrylic crystal bears some surface scratches. The movement remains generally clean with minor spotting on the mainspring barrel and light wear on the screw heads.

This Seiko Crown offers an incredibly clean sunburst dial that catches the light beautifully. Introduced in 1959, the Seiko Crown was developed as a direct improvement over the earlier Marvel line. This refined architecture proved so successful that it directly influenced the development of the very first Grand Seiko the following year. Powered by the 21-jewel manual-wind Seikosha Caliber 560, the reference 14036 represents an important transitional period in Japanese watchmaking, paving the way for the high-precision mechanical era of the 1960s.
