Model History:

The Seiko 5 Actus belongs to the Japanese-market branch of the Seiko 5 family. During the 1970s, Actus models combined practical automatic movements and day-date displays with some of Seiko’s more expressive case and dial designs. The angular case and vivid colour of this December 1976 example capture that period particularly well.

Its green sunburst dial is the defining feature: it appears bright emerald where it catches the light and much darker at other angles. Applied silver-tone markers, slender hands and the framed day-date display give the dial a clean, balanced appearance. The bilingual English/Kanji day wheel is another characteristic detail.

The watch is powered by Seiko’s 21-jewel calibre 7019, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Its calendar has separate quickset controls: the date is set by turning the crown in its first position, and the day by pressing the crown in its normal position.

Condition:

The watch is in very good vintage condition. The green sunburst dial retains its rich colour and pronounced light-changing effect. Minor marks can be seen on close inspection.

The stainless steel case shows scratches and minor marks from age and use, particularly on its polished surfaces and around the bezel. The case back also has surface wear. The crystal has been replaced and is scratch-free, and the watch is fitted with a new black leather strap.

The movement has been fully serviced and all functions operate correctly.
