Architectural Wall Mirror with Twin Candle Sconces and Aged Silvering, circa 1950
A distinctive mid-20th-century wall mirror combining an elongated architectural wooden frame with two symmetrical candle-form electric sconces in brass-tone metal. The tall proportions, pedimented top, turned finial and naturally aged mirror surface create a strong period atmosphere particularly suited to historic, theatrical and Halloween-inspired interiors.
Designed as both a wall mirror and an illuminated decorative element, the piece features a narrow arched mirror plate framed in warm-toned wood. Two articulated side sconces are fitted with candle-style sockets, flame-shaped bulbs and shaped metal reflector plates. The combination of aged mirror glass and candle-form lighting gives the piece a character closely associated with traditional period interiors and atmospheric wall decoration.
The mirror shows pronounced silvering oxidation and desilvering, creating the naturally mottled surface characteristic of older mirror glass. This aged silvering has developed varied tones across the plate and contributes significantly to its period appearance. The wooden frame and brass-tone metal fittings retain an established patina consistent with age and use. The electrical fittings and wiring are present as photographed. It will be shipped exactly as shown in the photographs, so please examine all images carefully.
Dimensions
Overall height: 98 cm
Width: approximately 30 cm with sconces inward, up to approximately 50 cm when extended
Depth: 11 cm
Mirror glass: 76 × 16 cm
