A fascinating lot of Natural Petroleum Quartz Crystals from the Balochistan Mines of Pakistan, consisting of 109 individual crystals with a total weight of 43 grams.
These transparent quartz crystals contain naturally trapped petroleum inclusions, which are clearly visible inside many of the pieces. Under UV light, the petroleum inclusions produce a beautiful fluorescent effect and noticeably change the appearance/color of the crystals, making this material particularly attractive to collectors of fluorescent and inclusion-rich minerals.
The crystals display good transparency and lustre, with numerous naturally formed terminations and a wide variety of individual shapes. Several crystals are double-terminated, adding further visual interest. In some crystals, the petroleum inclusions can be observed as mobile bubbles moving within the cavities, a distinctive characteristic of petroleum-bearing quartz.
