Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
Standing 132 cm tall and spanning approximately 292 cm when fully extended, this Japanese six-panel screen unites six distinct paintings of flowers and birds. While each panel presents an independent scene, they harmonize through a unified color palette and mounting style; when unfolded, the screen resembles a panoramic scroll of nature, offering both the intimacy of detailed observation and the grandeur of a large-scale display.
The composition features a interplay of lush blossoms and avian life: grasses unfurl by the water’s edge as swallows dart overhead; elsewhere, small sparrows nestle among flowers, a long-tailed pheasant rests near a rock, and a bird of prey gazes down from an ancient pine. The alternating poses of birds and forms of flora create a dynamic progression across the panels, shifting from light, spirited grace to a sense of composed strength.
The overall composition is grounded in subtle gradations of ink wash, accented by soft pinks, pale purples, bright yellows, and blues. Intricate details—such as petals, leaf veins, and plumage—are clearly rendered, while variations in ink tone lend a three-dimensional quality to the branches and rocks. Generous areas of negative space at the top allow the dense floral and avian imagery to breathe, maintaining a sense of openness and clarity.
Each panel is framed by an inner gold border and an outer mount of textured grey-green fabric with a black edge, providing a decorative touch that complements rather than overshadows the elegance of the paintings. The signature "Meiyen" (梅园) and a vermilion seal appear on the panels at both ends, adding a calligraphic charm to the piece.
With a span of nearly three meters, the screen serves as a striking artistic backdrop, ideal for living rooms, studies, tea rooms, or reception areas. Its folding structure allows for adjustable display angles, enabling the imagery to reveal different nuances depending on the surrounding space and lighting.
Note: import duties, VAT and other fees collected by destination countrys are responsible by the buyer.
Good condition, there are slight signs of wear from aging and using, please also look at the listed photos for a reference.
