Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
Celtic Britain, Durotriges.
Cranborn Chase type (Durotrigan E), Ca. 65-20 BC.
Stater (Billon, 19 mm, 4.49 g).
Obv: Devolved head of Apollo right.
Rev: Disjointed horse left; pellets above, pellet below, pellet in lozenge above tail, zigzag and pellet pattern between two parallel exergue lines.
Reference: ABC 2157; Van Arsdell 1235-1; SCBC 366.
The Durotriges inhabited Dorset and neighbouring parts of southern Britain, where farming communities and imposing hillforts shaped the landscape. During the first century BC, trade through Hengistbury Head connected them with Gaul, bringing wine and other continental goods across the Channel. Their distinctive coinage names no rulers, leaving the organisation of political power uncertain, but offers enduring evidence of a regional identity before the Roman conquest.
