The Seiko Crown was one of the company’s higher-grade hand-wound watch lines during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Its classically proportioned cases, elegant dial designs and large manual-winding movements represented an important stage in the development of Seiko’s precision mechanical watches.

Manufactured in April 1960, this Crown features a silver sunburst dial with gold-tone applied hour markers and dauphine-style hands. It is powered by the 21-jewel Seikosha calibre 560 hand-wound movement.

Condition:

The watch is presented in attractive vintage condition and displays considerable period character. Its silver sunburst dial retains a pleasing reflective finish and is complemented by gold-tone applied baton markers and dauphine-style hands.

The dial has developed visible age-related patina, spotting, discolouration and several surface imperfections. These signs of ageing have been left untouched and contribute to the watch’s authentic vintage appearance.

The stainless-steel case displays scratches, small marks and general signs of previous wear consistent with its age. Its long, elegant lugs and classic proportions remain clearly defined.

A new, scratch-free crystal and a new black leather strap have been fitted. The 21-jewel Seikosha calibre 560 hand-wound movement has been serviced and is functioning correctly. A 3-month guarantee is provided on its operation.
