This slab of rock captures a snapshot of lacustrine life from approximately 160 million years ago. The remains of the small feathered dinosaur Anchiornis are preserved alongside multiple fish specimens within fine-grained sedimentary rock, with the dinosaur's skeleton and the fish's scales and fin rays clearly visible. This rare association not only reveals the intricate skeletal morphology of Anchiornis but also offers a valuable window into the lake ecosystems of Northeast Asia during the Late Jurassic.
