Dial and Hands

Good vintage condition. The case shows honest, age-appropriate wear with moderate surface scratches and some softening to the lugs, while the dial remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition. The hands display light oxidation and micro-spotting visible under close inspection. The clean movement is performing strongly and reliably.

History
The Seikomatic line was a significant part of Seiko's catalog in the early 1960s, introducing accessible automatic winding to a broader audience. The 20-jewel Caliber 603 found in the reference 15031D is essentially a 17-jewel base movement with three additional jewels dedicated to the automatic winding module. Because the Caliber 603 is an automatic-only movement with no manual hand-winding capability, Seiko designed the watch with a recessed crown at the four o'clock position, encouraging the wearer to rely entirely on the motion of their wrist to power the timepiece.
