Rare Large Original Soviet Industrial Safety Poster — USSR, 1972 — Moscow — Vintage Agricultural Machinery — 57 × 42 cm
An impressive and increasingly difficult-to-find original Soviet industrial safety poster, published in Moscow in 1972.
This large-format historical poster was produced by the Soviet publishing house Kolos (Издательство «Колос») and printed on thick, rigid cardboard.
Original Russian inscription:
«ЗАТАЧИВАЙ НОЖИ В ОЧКАХ И РУКАВИЦАХ!»
“Sharpen blades while wearing protective goggles and gloves!”
Striking Soviet Graphic Design
The poster features a powerful and highly distinctive composition dominated by enormous protective goggles.
Inside the lenses are two agricultural workers performing industrial tasks, illustrated in contrasting black, brown and bright orange.
The dramatic oversized goggles, bold typography and minimalist colour palette make this an exceptional example of Soviet industrial graphic design from the early 1970s.
Original 1972 Publication — Moscow
Unlike many vintage posters with uncertain origins, this example retains its original printed publisher’s details and exact year of publication:
* Publisher: Kolos (Колос)
* Place: Moscow, USSR
* Year: 1972
* Series: Safety in the Technical Maintenance of Agricultural Machinery
* Sheet: No. 14
* Material: Thick, rigid cardboard
* Dimensions: Approximately 57 x 42 cm
The publisher’s original imprint remains visible at the bottom of the poster.
A Remarkable Survivor of Soviet Industrial History
More than half a century old, this original poster represents the visual culture of Soviet agricultural workshops, industrial safety training and working life in the USSR.
Large educational posters printed on cardboard were intended for practical use rather than long-term preservation.
Today, surviving original examples are attractive historical collectibles, particularly those featuring such striking graphic design.
Condition
Original vintage condition, with signs of age and historical use.
The poster retains its impressive visual appearance and strong original colours. There are age-related marks, some discolouration, edge wear and original mounting holes.
Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
An eye-catching, large-format Soviet collectible from 1972 — ideal for collectors of Soviet memorabilia, vintage industrial posters, graphic design and historical agricultural equipment.
