HISTORY of the Model: In production between 1950 and the late 1960s, reference 2509 is the twin of its contemporary reference 2508. The difference among the two models is that 08 has sweep centre seconds, while 09 has subsidiary seconds. The current example features strong hallmarks, a well preserved dial, and of course its original soft iron dust cap. The iconic calibre 12”'120 remained in production until 1973, but an updated 12”'400 calibre was introduced in 1953 and manufactured alongside the 12”'120. This featured additional shock resistance and an improved regulator to improve timekeeping and reliability. Patek Philippe implemented the use of the new and updated caliber 12-400 and 27SC, with central and six o’clock seconds, respectively.
