Roman gold pendant set with a light orange cornelian intaglio of Hebe (Juventas), holding the horn of plenty, standing on a pedestal, an eagle underneath. Hebe, or Juventas in Roman, was the goddess of youth and cupbearer to the gods, daughter of Zeus and Hera. She was often depicted with her father’s royal eagle, symbol of Zeus's power and presence.
Size: 2.1 cm L (including loop) - 13/16 inch
Material: Gold and cornelian, total weight=1.5 grms
Culture: Roman, c. 2nd Century A.D.
Condition: Intact
Provenance: Private UK collection, acquired prior to 2000.
