The Olympic Bear is the mascot of the XXII Olympic Games.
The Organizing Committee of the Moscow Olympics chose this animal as a symbol, because it possesses such qualities inherent in an athlete as strength, perseverance and courage.
The Summer Olympic Games were held in Moscow, the capital of the USSR, from July 19 to August 3, 1980.
On August 3, the closing ceremony of the Games of the XXII Olympiad took place. At the very end of the ceremony, a huge "Misha" floated into the middle of the stadium, supported by colorful balloons. He waved his paw in farewell and began to slowly rise above the stadium until he disappeared into the sky.
