When it comes to wine auctions online, you want to know that you’re bidding on high-quality wine. That’s why at Catawiki, with the help of our dedicated team of wine experts, we take the stress out of buying and selling fine wine so that you can enjoy and auction safely in our weekly wine auctions.
How Does a Catawiki Wine Auction work?
The key to a successful wine auction is sourcing fine wine and working with reliable sellers. With thousands of bottles on offer, our fine wine auctions are a treasure trove for wine connoisseurs. Each bottle has been reviewed by one of our in-house wine experts so that you know you’re always getting a quality product without having to spend hours researching vintages yourself. What’s more, those very same wine experts will oversee every wine auction to answer any and all questions you may have.
Once you’ve picked your fine wine, it’s time to place your bid. All of our items begin at the bidding of €1, regardless of whether or not they were set with a minimum reserve price. Now, you can choose to manually or automatically bid. Manual bids allow you to raise the bid to the price you’ve entered. While automatic bids will consistently attempt to outbid the other wine connoisseurs you’re competing with until you reach a maximum bid price that you’ve set.
When you’ve successfully won your wine, whether that be a special red wine or a crisp white, it’s time to pay for your bottle. After paying, your money is held by Catawiki for 14 days, following which, the seller receives the payment. If you haven’t received your fine wine by that point, you need to let us know and we’ll mediate where appropriate, meaning you're always in safe hands.
How Does Catawiki Make Selling Wine Easy?
With over 14 million potential bidders visiting Catawiki every single week from all around the world, your fine wine could wish for no better audience. To help you sell your fine wine, it’s completely free to list your wine as a lot. You begin by making a free account, taking some photos that capture the beauty of your fine wine, and putting together an engaging description. From here, your wine is in the safe hands of our experts who will verify whether it's eligible for auction.
We Ensure Quality is High at All Times
To make sure our wine auctions are of the highest integrity, we require every single object on Catwiki to be special. That means it will never be something you can just buy in any average store. Also, each item must hold a minimum estimated value of at least €75. By maintaining this standard, both our buyers and sellers can rest assured that our auctions will be of the highest quality. For your peace of mind, you can set a reserve price on your fine wine and if it isn’t met, the item isn’t sold, at no cost to you.
