After you create a Catawiki account, you can submit a new object to sell on Catawiki.
Submit a new object
You can start by entering the object you want to sell. Once you begin entering an object, some suggestions will automatically appear below the text field.
If you’re unable to find the object you wish to sell, select the most relevant available object and leave a message for the expert during submission.
If you’re already familiar with Catawiki you may want to sell in a specific auction. When you submit, you can start with an auction and choose the auction you want to sell in.
After you enter your object or select an auction, you’ll add your object’s images, details, value, and shipping info.
Working on an object draft
If you started a submission but didn’t finish, we’ll save it as a draft. You can find all of your drafts in one place.
Your most recent drafts will also appear when you choose to submit a new object.
To delete a draft, use the actions dropdown for that draft.
How to upload images
To upload images from a desktop computer, you can drag and drop them into the box in the image section of the submission tool.
You can also add them via computer, selecting images saved on your computer. Or add them via mobile. This will show a QR code to continue submission on a different device.
On your mobile phone or tablet, you can upload photos from your device or use your device's camera to take photos. These photos will then be added to your submission.
High-quality photos help our experts review your object and often bring in higher selling prices.
How to add object details
Take the time to add these details so bidders feel confident about buying your object. Use the info symbol next to each field to find out more about that specific field.
Once you’ve added details about your object, write a description that tells your object’s story and gives any important info not included in the object details.
Valuing your object
Estimated selling price
Estimate how much you think your object is worth. This is just for our expert’s review - bidders won’t see this.
If you enter €200 or more, you can add an optional reserve price.
Reserve price
An expert will help you with setting a realistic reserve price. Bidders can see if an object has a reserve price, but they can’t see what the reserve price is.
If the reserve price isn’t met, you can re-offer your object or offer it to the highest bidder.
Buy now
If your estimated value is above €200, you can add a buy now option. This allows potential buyers to buy your object for a fixed price before the auction ends.
Keep in mind, you can’t offer only the buy now option. Bidding on your object will be available alongside buy now.
Shipping your object
During submission you’ll select the size of your package, choose smart or manual shipping, and decide if your object can be picked up.
Preview your object before submitting
Once you’ve added your object’s images, details, value, and shipping info, you can preview your object. This is a great way to check that everything’s in order before submitting.
After previewing, you can submit your object and it will go to one of our experts.
Make a copy of an object
If you’re selling a similar object, then there’s no need to create an object from scratch.
To copy an object, use the actions dropdown for that object in your submissions.
This will create a copy of your chosen object, including its object details, images, shipping info, pricing, and description. You might be asked to enter the type of object you’re selling again before your object is copied.
What happens after submission?
Once you've submitted, you can follow your object's progress in your submissions.
An expert will review your submission. If they have all the info they need, you’ll get an email letting you know your object is scheduled for auction. Keep in mind, finding the perfect auction for your object can take up to a week.
If the expert needs more info or advises any changes, they’ll send you an email about the adjustments you need to make. Your submission will go back to your drafts along with feedback from the expert.
