Leo Setz

Lode Bosmans (Herenthout 1925 - Mortsel 2017) was a Belgian painter. This painter was born in Herenthout in 1925 and attended the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he was taught by a.o. A. Saverijs, I. Opsomer, C. Permeke, W. Vaes and others.
In addition to his artistic life, he earned a living as a teacher in scientific drawing and art history.
Along with father Calixte Fimmers (of the Abbey of Tongerlo), Lode Bosmans founded the Vesper art academy in the Sint-Gummarus chapel of Herenthout in 1949, which was popularly called the 'Torekensschool'. 
He was the first director. During the 1960s, his pupils included René Veris, An Goris and Jef Grieken. He is mentioned in Belgian art books.

With frame (59 x 73 cm), in good condition with signs of wear.
