Beautifully made wooden sculpture of Mary Magdalene from the first half of the 20th century, after the 15th century example of the Belgian artist Jan Borman. The sculpture represents Mary Magdalene, on her way to the tomb of Jesus with the ointment jar. Mary Magdalene, or Mary of Magdala, is a Biblical figure from the New Testament; she was part of a group of women present at the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Not signed. Height approx 58 cm, width ca 19 cm, weight ca. 2800 grams. Sculpture in good condition, with the exception of some signs of age, including some hairline cracks, see pictures.
