Juvenia - Mystere - "NO RESERVE PRICE" - Women - 1950-1959

Lovely Juvenia Mystère Skeleton wristwatch. Diameter 27 mm without the crown. Gold-plated casing. Keeps time well, understanding that it's not a quartz watch but a 60-year-old watch. Strap 21 cm, including the watch. Swiss made. Will be delivered in its original box. Tracked, registered shipping. For a better description, see the photos (not retouched), they are part of the description. Juvenia has a nice history and produces particularly elegant watches with exemplary finishing. We owe the creation of Juvenia in 1860 to the Alsatian watchmaker Jacques Didisheim. He was an enterprising man: he produced watches, drafts, clocks, machines, music boxes and even optical instruments. When his son Bernard took over, he centred the business's activities on watch making, particularly making drafts that would allow Juvenia to present the smallest watch movement ever made at the 1914 National Swiss Exposition. But what characterized Juvenia throughout the 20th century was an overflow of creativity of shapes, decorations, materials and even ways of wearing the watches. Henri Marquis, in the work "Comment habiller le temps" that he dedicated to Juvenia has even written "The analysis of their aesthetic research proves that have studied almost everything in the utilisation of the shapes and decorations of the wristwatch." And the analysis of the creation notebooks which have been preciously preserved in the business's archive demonstrates this at length: certain models from the 20s and 30s are practically identical to the product made by other watchmakers today. We can see it as a form of homage... Certain models have become classics in watch design: in the 40s, Arithmo with its triple logarithmic ladder and the model Mystere have been made in a variety of casing shapes, in the 50s the models Trigone, Cabochon and above all Planete and Sextant are still in production today. Juvenia is still set apart by the creative quality of its models. At the beginning of the 20th century, Juvenia had a creation office in Paris, strategic at the time for Art Nouveau and Art Deco. A second creative peak happened after the second world war, with the arrivals of flagship models such as Sextant, Planetes, Mystere and finally the very thin and elegant watch from the 60s, the Slim.
