Michel Pascal (1810-1882) - Ancient statuette, the posture of the reading monk - Painted and patinated plaster - Second half 19th century
Old statuette called "of the reading monk" by Michel Pascal in painted and patinated plaster.
François-Michel Pascal, known as Michel-Pascal (1810-1882) born in Paris in 1810, is a French romantic sculptor.
Michel-Pascal was admitted on 1 October 1828 to the Paris School of Fine Arts in the studio of David d'Angers. He debuted at the 1840 Salon.
The reading monk is an emblematic representation of Pascal's work.
Nota. The top of the book is missing. A small lack at the end of the monk's right foot reveals the metal structure of the sculpture and attests to the quality of the work's production. Small chips are to be noted on the edge of the monk's hood (see detailed photos).
Height: 18 cm (approx.)
