Morris - Eight Saloon - 1936
The little Morris Eight was built between 1935 and 1948. The model was based on the popular Ford Y-model which sold well. The Eight followed the example of the Ford Y-model and sold so well that Morris became again the number 1 car manufacturer in Great Britain.
The Series I was built between 1935 and 1937. A total of 164,102 units rolled out of the factory. The car was powered by a Morris UB series 918cc four-cylinder engine with 23.5 HP.
The driver had a complete dashboard including a speedometer with a built-in odometer, oil pressure and fuel level gauges and an amperemeter. The Morris' more modern design was reflected in the superior performance of the hydraulically operated 8-inch drum brakes. The Morris also scored more points than its rival Ford by including an electric wiper instead of the more old-fashioned vacuum-powered version.
This Morris Eight comes from an inheritance and is unique because it has stood in a heated space since 1976. It has been well preserved, the owner couldn’t part with it as he got married in this car.
This is a barn find with several options, you can make it roadworthy or give it a full restoration, the engine turns, the brakes work and the car can roll.
English documentation, license plates and 3 keys are available.
This is a unique opportunity for fans of the Morris Eight Series I which are rarely offered for sale.
