Very beautiful copy bound in a luxurious English binding in full tawny morocco, spine with raised bands adorned with the title and panels adorned with fine gilded tooling, blind-stamped antique style frames on the boards, the heraldic stamp of Kings College of London is in the centre of the front cover with the motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense", gilded roulettes on the edges of the boards and the turn-in, all edges gilt.
Very beautiful romantic publication on illustrious Italian men adorned with 100 engraved portraits on 12 plates engraved on steel based on the compositions of Rouargues Frères, Guarini etc. Text embellished with woodcut ornaments. Printed on vellum paper.
