Dulieu, Jean - Originele aquarel - Paulus de boskabouter - "Professor Punt met Kareltje" - gepubliceerd in EVA - (1963)
Good - 1 Original artwork - Formaat: 11 x 21,5 cm.

In the Second World War, Jan van Oort (1921-2006) created the comic character Paulus de Boskabouter (the Woodgnome) whose adventures were published in Het Vrije Volk newspaper from 1946 onwards. Van Oort called himself “Jean Dulieu” (the French translation of Jan van Oort).
In addition to 8000 newspaper publications, Paulus also appeared in colour in a large number of magazines and children's books (translated in many countries). The watercolours Dulieu made for these publications are all small works of art.

Dulieu was a jack of all trades, a versatile and virtuoso artist whose skill and talent kept pace with his pursuit of perfection. Jean Dulieu received many awards for his work and is considered among the three foremost Dutch illustrators of his time, Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse and Jean Dulieu.

Dulieu created the story “Paulus en de reis naar de Puntster” in 1951.
In the early 1960s Dulieu reused the Puntster theme for a beautiful serial in colour, that was first published in Eva magazine in 1963.
Dulieu made this watercolour for that publication. A wonderful composition, finely inked (mostly with colour contours) and with magnificent colours.

The watercolour has been beautifully framed. This is included in this lot. Also see the photos, which are part of the description and provide a clear impression of this beautiful painting.

Please note: Photo 3 also shows a publication in Eva; it is not included in this lot.
