States Bible printed in 1663 by the famous Elseviers printing house in Leyden, the Netherlands. This imposing large folio size Bible contains 6 maps, the sought after World Map ( were parts of Australia, New Zealand and Antarctica are still unknown) this map is made by Nicolas Visscher 1618-1679., the map of the Paradise, the map of the 40 years travel, the map of Jerusalem, the map of the land Canaan and the map of the travels of St Paul. The Elseviers Bible was the first Bible in the Netherlands printed in Italics. The Bible is bound in a calfskin binding over wooden boards and has the original 17th century brass catches and corner pieces. It contains the Old and New Testament and Apocryphal books. Throughout browning but still a remarkable monument of Dutch 17th century printing skill.
