First edition decorated with a double frontispiece by Max Ernst.
Print run of 365 copies, this is one of the 350 copies on pure laid paper containing the double etching. Only 50 copies contain the signed etching.
In this book, Ernst published only the captions of his collage novel "La femme 100 têtes" (1926) and made a double frontispiece to illustrate the book.
" Even without the illustrations, the juxtaposed texts of the legends of La Femme 100 têtes would constitute one of the most beautiful surrealist poems that can be conceived" cf Waldberg.
Curious copy that has been coloured in blue: all the texts are highlighted up to caption 96/146, including those of the cover (see photos).
Cover a little faded, spine with folds and micro-tears from the head-caps.
ERNST (Max).
