A rare first edition of the 2nd year of this charming comic almanac to which Honoré de Balzac, Frédéric Soulié, Maurice Alhoy, Paul de Kock, Henri Monnier, etc. contributed.
Embellished with 12 (of 12) magnificent etched plates, under serpentes by Trimolet, of scenes both interesting and comical, one for each month of the year (on festivals, exhibitions, country scenes, solar eclipse, how to prevent chimneys from smoking, etc.) as well as a very large number of in text comical drawings by Ch. Vernier.
Publisher’s paperboard binding, front cover illustrated with a magnificent composition engraved by V. Beaucé (astrological wheel and figures), handwritten title on the spine, gilded edges.
Binding in very good condition. Light friction on the caps and corners, foxing and water stains on the upper part of the pages.
Provenance: bookplate stamp and ex dono of Baron de Moidrey on the first flyleaf.
