This 14th century manuscript leaf comes from a Dutch Prayer Book written in Delft.
Imagine the medieval abbeys, they had libraries where monks penned beautiful handwritten manuscripts, illuminated with gilded hand-painted initials on a red or blue background. Time was not an issue, contemplation and quality all the more.
This is one such manuscript on vellum (thin parchment - animal skin) with beautifully decorated initials in red, blue and gold. This is an original unique piece from the 15th century. Dimensions: 10.7 x 7.4 cm.
Condition: although more than 550 years old, the condition is good, the parchment is slightly browned. Elements that determine its value: rarity, quality, age and attractiveness... a masterpiece in any serious collection.
