FYI – It's becoming more and more challenging to find a "100% functional" Vintage Apple/Macintosh PLUS ! Especially in "GOOD CONDITION" & "FULLY RECAPED". Being an Apple enthusiast, I have collected RARE and VALUABLE hardware and software for my co-sentimental Apple companions. The lucky Macintosh Apple enthusiast can supplement his/her collection with this legendary collector's item: the “Macintosh PLUS”. UNIQUE to this particular computer are “the engraved signatures” of the original Macintosh team - including the signature of “STEVE JOBS” - inside the CASE. The Macintosh team found the original Macintosh ART - and they saw themselves as ARTISTS. When you open “the case”, you understand why. This is the third model in the Macintosh line, introduced January 16, 1986 - two years after the original Macintosh (1984) and one year after the Macintosh 512K. Price tag at the time was US $ 2599 (equivalent of $ 6,062 in 2020). // INCLUDING ORIGINAL 1984 BAG [ 1984 Original Rainbow Macintosh Computer Bag ] This original soft-sided tan Apple Macintosh travel, tote, carrying bag was a great companion for the Plus computer. The bag is WASHED (professional washing machine) and is in great condition (with no rips or tears in the fabric). It has a variety of pouches to keep the keyboard, mouse, software, cables and an even an external disk drive (not included) or manuals. Note: on auction platforms the bag alone is worth lots of money. Note 2: the bag is more yellowed then captured in the pictures. // INCLUDING "DUTCH" PICASSO COVERED MANUAL The "original" Apple manual is in good shape (be aware: there are some marks of the previous owner, see pictures). PS/ the language of the manual is "Dutch" (this mac was sold in the Netherlands). // IMPORTANT – WHY BUY FROM ME? (instead of other sellers) I am a Mac user from way back in the Legacy Era. I offer Vintage Apple computers as I would buy them myself. My admiration for Steve Jobs' legacy is so great that I want the Macs I sell, to stand "the test of time". Furthermore I only sell items I have "passion" for. Hardware-wise, all my sold computers are completely disassembled, (deep) cleaned – and, if necessary, repaired – in order to extend their lifespan. See pictures. // ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST & BATTERY ACID – DUST: the inside of a 30-year-old computer (and keyboard and mouse) looks the same as "the collection-container of a vacuum cleaner" (read: a dust bunny). And as you know "dust" can ruin your electronics; – LEAKS: 30-year-old batteries will someday leak, causing irreversible damage to the computer. The battery is removed (FYI: online you can buy a new 4.5V battery for date/time settings. Please let me know if you need help finding the right battery, however a battery is not required to use this computer). To preserve the computer for the future it is even better to not place a new battery; – BOARD REVISION: both boards (analog + logic) were revised (thus: the non-functioned electrolytic capacitors were replaced). – REFURBISHED: the floppy drive is refurbished. This includes "floppy drive lubrication". Therefore the "internal floppy drive" works like a charm (formatting, reading and writing disks and of-course ejecting*). Usually the "EJECT* mechanism" fails. So the famous paperclip method is NOT needed for this Mac! Thus: SERVICED and totally functional floppy drive. Long-Story Short. Computers from other vendors may look the same on the outside. I can guarantee you that the inside is very different! So if you want to enjoy your investment for as long as possible, choosing "wisely" is advisable. // GERM-FREE "RARE" KEYBOARD (M0110A) & MOUSE (M0100) The Macintosh comes with the accompanying keyboard and mouse. Those objects alone are already worth a fortune on auction websites. The keyboard (and mouse) are completely disassembled and cleaned professionally (see pictures). In my opinion it is my responsibility (as a seller) to provide a Germ-Free keyboard (a 2018 study found that 96% of the keyboards were contaminated with bacteria). So, I think we can agree that nobody wants a nasty, infected keyboard. Note: Some pictures mistakenly show the M0110-keyboard (without "numeric" key pad). I was cleaning the M0110A-keyboard on the moment of photographing. THUS. This-bundle includes the"M0110A"-keyboard (with "numeric" key pad). Extra information: – ALL KEYS WORK! (lot of vintage keyboard's don't fully work – this one is "fully repaired")! // CUSTOMIZE YOUR SET-UP: ENGLISH or FRENCH KEYBOARD Choose an English or French keyboard (English = the default!) … and English or French Operating System. Although "English" (QWERTY) keyboard – and English Operating System is the default, I thought it was time to serve my "French"-speaking Apple colleagues too. You can also choose the exceptional AZERTY keyboard instead (and the accompanying "French Operating System"). "French-speaking Apple fans" … this is your chance ;) FYI: the software is ALWAYS "English"! The floppy disk is a digital copy of the original Plus 800 kb floppy disk. // 800 KB FLOPPIES (NEW OLD STOCK) I ALWAYS use brand-new-(800Kb)-floppies to copy "system & software". The Macintosh Plus was the last classic Mac to feature a “telephone cord-like port” - on the front of the device - for the keyboard; as well as the “DE-9 connector” for the mouse (later models would use ADB ports). That makes this Apple Computer extremely RARE and EXCEPTIONAL … and therefore a good investment. FYI: The RARE keyboard and mouse, they alone are worth the bid (check other websites for their prices)! Normal signs of use and wear. But as an experienced connoisseur I can guarantee that these items are in VERY GOOD condition (always keeping in mind their age).  PS/ some tiny scratches (and other ware-out) are difficult to capture on picture (but they are there … thus: again please have realistic expectations!). // IMPORTANT – A NOTE ON YELLOWED PLASTICS! Some words on the yellowing. Old computer cases are made of ABS plastics which contain at that time "bromine". The element bromine reacts over the time of years with UV light and causes some yellowing*. Furthermore. Not all parts are "yellowed" evenly. PS/ the french keyboard is less yellowed compared to the english one. Some sellers "Retr0bright" their computers with chemicals. I am totally agains "Retr0brighting", because it causes structural changes in the plastic, it's not permanent – and it devalues historical items! So pay attention when buying retro-computers (alarm bells should ring when the case is "100% gray"). Please, if you find a bit of age-"yellowing" a problem, it is recommended that you do NOT bid on this item. Bytheway: the yellowed plastic is not easy to capture on the photos (but it's there … believe me!). Last-but-not-least. Be aware. All mechanical parts make more noice than you are use to, compared with modern equipment. But this is “normal” behavior. Obviously this is a 30 year old machine. The speed is therefore corresponding. Thus, please have realistic expectations when buying a vintage computer. FYI: When the computer has not been used for a long time, the CRT screen may be vibrate a little. That is "normal" vintage CRT behaviour. The vibrating stops after the CRT warms up. // PACKAGING & SHIPPING The PLUS bundle is packaged securely and carefully for safe shipment.
