Superb iron currency from Africa, Idoma - Nigeria. XIX - XX Century.
Currency spread along the southern basin of the Benue river. Their shape resembles the money of the Guinzé from Liberia. The surface has brush made lines (scratches). The front part can be recognized by its characteristic undulation of the metal. The stick, in its thinner part, I sometimes twisted around itself and the lower part might be either flat, pointed or tube-like.
Forged iron - Size: 74 x 25 x 1 cm / Weight: Aprox. 3 Kgs (For sale with stand).
Acquired from a Spanish private collection, R.O in the 80's.
