Crucifix - Baroque - Silver, Walnut - early 18th century
Cruxifix of walnut with a cast silver Corpus Christi. Made around 1830 in Belgium or France.
The Corpus Christi is made of high quality casting in baroque style. (hair and beard of Jesus well executed) The silver Corpus weighs 141 grams. (the silver nail at the left hand of Jesus is missing)
The fittings of the cross in the shape of shells and the shield with INRI ( Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judeorum = Jesus of nazareth King of the Jews) are also silver.
The wood of the cross is in solid walnut, the base is walnut veneer on oak. (one small part of the veneer is missing)
Dimensions Corpus Christi: 17,5 x 13,5 x 3 cm.
Dimensions Crucifix: 63 x 22,5 x 12 cm.
