A beautiful Art Deco-style wooden cha'dansu 茶箪笥 (tea cabinet), in a two sections, offers ample storage space and is enriched with numerous fine details. Fully restored, cleaned, and waxed. The cabinet, constructed from the indigenous sugi (cedar) wood features a deep dark brown finish. The faces of the drawers, the panels of the sliding doors and the back panel are made of precious 'Keyaki' burl wood (Zelkova - Japanese oak) with a striking wood grain varnished in a warm brown hue. The upper section of the cabinet is arranged with two pairs of sliding doors alongside a larger pair of glass sliding doors, allowing a peek into the interior. The lower section includes another pair of sliding doors and five drawers of different sizes. The interior, visible through the glass doors, boasts a striking display area with an shelf ending in an angular curl and two pair of sliding doors set with frosted glass adorned with a flower design. One pair of windows lobed, the other triangular of form. The sliding doors are embellished with delicate flower-shaped thumb grips, and the drawers are fitted with elegant ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles. Period: Japan - Taishô period (1912-1926). Dimensions: Height 145.1 cm, Width 82.5 cm, Depth 32.6 cm. In a very good restored condition with minimal traces of normal use. Smooth running doors and drawers.
